Evacuations Ordered As Japatul Valley Fire Spreads On Day One

The Japatul Valley Fire burned thousands of acres in the first day as firefighters worked in scorching heat to try and stop the blaze. The fire, which began around 2:15pm near the area of Spirit Trail & Japatul Road, has caused the evacuations and currently threatens the Sunrise Power power lines, which supply a large portion of San Diego County’s electricity. At least 335 firefighters are reportedly deployed on the fire at this time, with multiple bulldozers and five water tenders assisting.
