January 11, 2022 - National Milk Day

Hello everybody, I’m Shawn Krill and today is January 11, 2022 and its National Milk Day. This is such a cool holiday. Today represents the first time Milk was delivered to homes inside sterilized glass bottles. Yep, no more drinking directly from a cow. Imagine the logistics of that. Prior to 1878 when the first bottles were used and sealed with wax, milk was really hard to transport and to store but the technology we have now with pasteurizing, milk can be delivered almost anywhere and is considered a staple food. Fun Facts, in 1879 the milking machine with rubber cups was patented by Anna Baldwin. In 1883 there was a milk war in New York, farmers and milk companies were waring over the price of milk and my favorite fun fact, The Fist Dairy Queen Store opened in 1940.
