LIVE: Icelandic volcano erupts destroying homes

A volcano in Iceland has erupted for the second time in a month, spewing lava towards the town of Grindavik as residents were evacuated from their homes. Molten rock flowed to within 450 metres of the town, a settlement of 3,800 people on the Reykjanes peninsula in the southwest of the country, according to the Icelandic Meteorological Office. The eruption began at on Sunday after a series of earthquakes which prompted renewed warnings and the evacuation of Grindavik overnight. Glowing orange lava flowed out and a huge smoke cloud was visible at sunrise.
