The campaign was initiated in the presence of Thiru Shankar Jiwal, Commissioner of Police, Chennai. The initia tive focusing on providing support to the vulnerable elder community affected by the COVID-19 pandemic lo ckdown, will execute a plan of rescuing around 2500 homeless people across the city and provide them with shelter and essentials. REACH’s primary interventions will include COVID-19 Crisis interventions for the elderly, rescue and rehabilit ation of abandoned and destitute elders, psychological counseling and support, emergency support, and linkage to essential services and institutions(Police, Old Age Homes, Hospitals, Senior Citizen Associations, Department of Social Security and Legal Services), Combating abuse of elderly, imparting digital literacy, healthcare support, educating elders on their rights and entitlement, connecting elders to family members, provision of food, medications and many more.
