Aleksei Ivanov is a Komi language activist who fled the Russian Federation to Estonia in May 2022 to escape prosecution. He currently holds refugee status and may face years in prison upon return to Russia.
In this interview he tells about his various clashes with the police for protesting Putin’s regime and his refusal to speak Russian with the authorities, but insisting on his native Komi.
He also touches on the circumstances of his escape and how he feels in Estonia.
