“Message in a Bottle” - Marsh Family adaptation of The Police song with a climate twist

We were going to do a song about the coronation of King Charles III today, which is obviously an important waypoint in the nation’s history, and the cause of much celebration. There was much impressive parading, lots of hearty singing, some fancy outfits, some nice references to modernity and a whole load of important tradition on display. But we wanted to use a bit of the extra time we’ve been given to sing about something more important, and more urgent, and more relevant to the future. So we picked a topic that has always been close to the new king’s heart: the environment and the need to stop destroying it. The song is one of our favourite Police tracks, released as the lead single on Reggatta de Blanc in 1979, and their first UK number one single. _________________________ Thanks as ever to the people who support our musical antics through Patreon (where you can see extras like out-takes and podcasts): Do join us there, or just leave a tip at our tip jar at: _________________________ LYRICS: A disaster waits The planet’s on its knees oh With every centigrade A rising of the seas oh More deadliness: emissions everywhere Reckless policies that lead us to despair oh I’ll send an to the world I’ll send an to the world I hope that someone gets my I hope that someone gets my I hope that someone gets my Message in a bottle, yeah Message in a bottle, yeah The years have passed to impose controls They should have known this, yet didn’t start Dying hope - extremes in the weather Have to change our lives But every step is hard I’ll send an to the world I’ll send an to the world I hope that someone gets my I hope that someone gets my I hope that someone gets my Message in a bottle, yeah Message in a bottle, yeah Oh, message in a bottle, yeah Message in a bottle, yeah With more global warming, we know what we will endure Mass extinctions, bodies washed up on the shore Cities now unknown that we had all known Many million castaways, looking for a home I’ll send an to the world I’ll send an to the world I hope that someone gets my I hope that someone gets my I hope that someone gets my Message in a bottle, yeah Message in a bottle, yeah Sending out an .
