And to celebrate his return to the discipline in two thousand and twenty-four, let’s take a look back at the fastest knockouts of this bloodthirsty fighter’s professional career. Are you ready? This one is sure to be a potpourri of blood, sweat and tears! Let’s get to it. Number ten, Mike Tyson vs. Eddie Richardson The year was nineteen eighty-five, and Mike Tyson was just getting warmed up. With a record of eleven wins, each by hard knockout, and no losses, on November 13th he stepped into the ring at the Ramada-Houston Hotel in Houston to face Eddie Richardson. It was Tyson’s first fight without Cus D’Amato, who had died nine days earlier of pneumonia, so Mike felt extra motivation to get the win. Tyson’s first punch, a right cross, sent Richardson to the ground just eight seconds into the fight, but he was on his feet at the count of seven. Tyson chased Richardson around the ring throwing power punches to the head. Richardson circled, occasionally threw a jab, but mostly evaded. A left hand blocked Richardson’s knees at one minute and five seconds, sending him to the ground a second time. He remained crouched and made few attempts to get to his feet. After Barry Yeats, the referee, counted him out, Tyson joined in to help pull him to his feet. This was the sixth consecutive first round knockout for Mike. DON’T BLINK!
