Women in comedy: Regina Barreca at TEDxUConn 2013

A comedian and professor of English and Feminist Theory at the University of Connecticut, Dr. Gina Barreca discusses the changing role of women in the male-dominated world of comedy. Barreca has appeared on 20/20, The Today Show, CNN, the BBC, NPR, and Oprah to discuss gender, power, politics, and humor. A new member of The Friars’ Club, a ’Voices and Visions’ honoree of the Connecticut Women’s Hall of Fame, and winner of UConn’s most prestigious teaching award, Gina can be found in the Library of Congress or in the make-up aisle of Walgreens. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience.
