Released in May of 1967, “Summer and Sandy“ was Lesley’s follow-up to her Top 20 smash “California Nights.“ With a strong beat, an over-the-top arrangement by Bob Crewe, and a superb delivery by Lesley, the song seemed destined to surpass the success of its predecessor. However, the song stalled at #65 on the Hot 100, faring only slightly better on the Cashbox chart, where it reached #57.
