Grand Duchess Maria Nikolaevna Romanova

Born on 26 June 1899 in Peterhof, the Grand Duchess Maria was the third daughter of Tsar Nicholas II of Russia and Empress Alexandra Feodorovna. Also nicknamed Marie, Masha or Mashenka, she was a gentle, pretty, flirtatious girl. As an infant and toddler, her physical appearance was compared to one of Botticelli’s angels. Maria’s biggest wish was to marry a Russian soldier and raise a large family. Maria was murdered along with her family on 17 July 1918 at age 19.
