The landing strip on the Caribbean island of Saba, known as the world’s shortest commercial runway, is only 400m long, with cliffs plunging down to the ocean on 3 sides and a mountain on the other. The runway is marked with an X, indicating that all aircraft are forbidden from landing, with the exception of a few scheduled air services using STOL (short takeoff and landing) aircraft.
