Virus hospital resumes normal service in Moscow

(1 Mar 2021) A hospital in Moscow reopened part of its units on Monday, a year after it was adapted to treat new coronavirus patients. City Clinical Hospital No. 52 received the first female patients at a gynaecological unit after treating around 20,000 patients with coronavirus infections since 29 February 2020. Gynaecologists and surgeons returned to their regular work having spent a year working as physicians with COVID patients. “I was afraid of forgetting something,“ said gynaecologist Olga Polikarpova. “But when you start operating, it comes back quickly and everything gets sorted. “ Her unit was converted into a ward to treat coronavirus patients, and operating blocks were closed for any planned surgeries with the exception for urgent cases.
