Defining characteristics of the style include long introductions, slow BPM (in the range of 90-140 BPM), and focus on a dark atmosphere. Dungeon Rap is also a primarily instrumental genre; vocals, if present at all, are taken from samples and mixed low. Unlike other genres, which often evolve more โ€œnaturallyโ€œ, Dungeon Rap can easily be traced back to a single artist and release Dungeon Rap has its origin in 2018 with the release of DJ Armokโ€™s God of Blood (Demo) 1998. The following year, this EP, along with Komm Nicht Rein was included in the compilation Dungeon Rap: The Introduction, a split release featuring two aliases of DJ Sacred (who made the first two mentioned releases) and DJ Bishop.
