The Greenland ice sheet is melting seven times faster than three decades ago, which could expose 400 million people to coastal flooding each year. The figure is 40 million more than the number predicted by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPPC). The ice loss has resulted in global sea levels rising by around since 1992 and scientists warn no matter what steps we take, melting ice will continue for decades.
