Why we need more innovation to end malaria

In the last two decades, the world has dramatically reduced the global burden of malaria, preventing 1.7 billion cases and saving 10.6 million lives. But progress has slowed in recent years. Malaria persists in high-burden communities, and challenges including drug and insecticide resistance, stagnant funding, and emergent diseases such as COVID-19 threaten continued progress. Eradication is the only sustainable approach to addressing malaria.
