A little backstory for the album:
About 2 years ago right after I had finished all the rough drafts for the album that would be me Nautical Nonsense, I spilled coffee on both my laptop and my external hard drive and lost basically everything I’ve ever made since I started making music. All my project files, samples, drums, everything I’ve done with Yung Gravy, you name it, in an instant it was all gone. I was able to scrap together what I had already made and finish Nautical Nonsense but I always thought it was a shell of what it could’ve been and ultimately it turned me off of making music. I didn’t make anything for a year and legitimately thought about giving up on music entirely for the first time ever.
Around April of last year I was on a date with someone I had been seeing and was invited by @poolsuitefm to come to a club in NYC called Le Bain. Everything was going well enough that night with her that I thought fuck it why not, let’s go. Little did I know this would end up being a life changing experience for me. I truly experienced house music for the first time that night. It was the most diverse group of people I had ever seen, everyone was doing their own thing, no phones, no ego’s, everyone was just having fun, dancing and enjoying the music. It was truly an eye opening experience to me. Not only that but the music was unlike anything I had heard before. It was groovy, funky, uplifting, and hit harder than the “we need to talk” text, I was hooked. Before I knew it, the sun was coming up and I was in love not only with the girl I was seeing but with house music. Was one of the best nights of my life. The next day I reinstalled my music software and got to work on the album you’re hearing today.
When Crystal Dolphin blew up, I lost sight of why I started making music in the first place. I was extremely grateful for the attention it bought me but it put a crazy amount of expectations on me that all I started to focus on was maintaining the popularity I got off this completely random occurrence rather than making music for fun or myself. When I couldn’t keep up with those expectations, I honestly felt like I failed and I completely lost all the passion I had for the thing I once loved. But working on this album made me regain that passion again. Not only that but getting to DJ more frequently and run my own events made me remember why I started doing this in the first place. I spend like 95% of my time completely alone (which I prefer honestly) but it’s been nice to go out and meet so many amazing people because of this. Can truly say I’m at the best place I’ve ever been at in my life. I started focusing on my health, meeting new like minded people, stopped smoking weed for the first time in 10 years and have regained my love for music again and I believe this album reflects that. Hope you all enjoy and I truly mean it when I say I love y’all, wouldn’t be anything without you ❤️🕺
