Salvador Dali on “The Name’s the Same“ (first appearance, January 19, 1954)

Salvador Dali appears on the Goodson-Todman game show “The Name’s the Same“ (January 19, 1954), with host Robert Q. Lewis and panelists Gene Rayburn, Joan Alexander, and Bill Stern. TNTS ran from December 1951 to October 1955 and was another oddball variant of “What’s My Line?“, a 20-questions type of show in which the gimmick was that the contestants’ real names were the same as celebrities, places, things, etc. Thus Woodrow Wilson, Virginia Beach, A. Mule, Will Bathe, etc., ad absurdum. As on WML every show had an appearance by a celebrity guest, and the gimmick here was that the guest had a secret ambition (“Who I’d Like To Be--just in fun, of course“) or a “secret wish“, and the panelists had to guess the secret.
