AETHYRIEN | Allfather

There is symbolism all throughout this track, but I feel I should probably explain some of it since it may be obscure. Sleipnir(Odin’s eight-legged horse), Hugin & Munin (his ravens), Geri & Freki (his wolves) all play a role in this song, as well as Valkyries. How this song played out in my head was a battlefield being fought as Odin arrives. Towards the end of the song, the skies light up and the choir comes in, representing the Valkyries descending from Valhalla. The Viking warriors used to be inspired by visions of Odin during battles, to fight harder in order to earn their place in Valhalla. The Valkyries would choose who died in battle... so I think my goal here was to create a dark atmosphere, brutal at the same time, but have a point in which a heavenly part of the song will come through (valkyries) and shift the mood just for a bit, only to end it in an epic way after inspiration was instilled.
