Horizon Armenian Television Broadcast date: August 25, 1990 Horizon succeeded The Armenian Teletime as the most popular Armenian television program in Southern California. It replaced The Armenian Teletime’s previous weekend time slot on KSCI Channel 18. The Armenian Soviet Socialist Republic declared its independence on August 23, 1990. The nation was renamed the Republic of Armenia, but remained in the Soviet Union until its official proclamation of independence on September 21, 1991.
