Autodesk Maya Tips: How to Practice Good Hierarchy
AnimSchool Tips: 3D Modeling Fundamentals - Good Hierarchy Habits
Organizing your 3D-modeled scene is vital to a modeler’s job. Modelers are located toward the beginning of the production phase of the animation pipeline. The scenes that modelers make are touched by many hands as it goes down the production process. This is why staying organized is important to be a modeler. In this lecture taught by AnimSchool Instructor Luis Labrador, we learn about proper naming conventions, grouping objects, and finally how to put those groups in a proper hierarchy. Luis demonstrates all this through a simple little character and explains that all these principles apply to complex scenes. Luis illustrates why it’s important for a modeler to not only produce a visually appealing scene but also why it’s just as important to make an organized scene through good hierarchy habits.
At AnimSchool, we teach students who want to make 3D characters move and act. Our instructors are professionals at film and game anim
