Jacksons ft. Michael Jackson - Shake Your Body (Down To The Ground) • TopPop
The Jackson 5, later known as the Jacksons, were an American pop band composed of members of the Jackson family. The group was founded in 1964 in Gary, Indiana by brothers Jackie, Tito, and Jermaine, with younger brothers Marlon and Michael Jackson joining soon after.
“Shake Your Body (Down to the Ground)“ is a song of their 1978 album Destiny, and released as a single in 1979. It peaked at No. 7 in the Billboard Hot 100 in May 1979.
The chorus “let’s dance/let’s shout (shout)/shake your body down to the ground“ was inspired by an ad-lib from Marvin Gaye’s “Got to Give It Up“: “Let’s dance/let’s shout (shout)/gettin’ funky’s what it’s all about“
On 31 March 1979 it reached #3 in the Dutch Top 40.
This recording was made by Dutch Toppop on 1 March 1979.
