Just now! 6.9 magnitude earthquake shakes Ecuador! What is happening to the Earth?

Three hours ago, a magnitude 6.9 earthquake rocked the coastal province of Guayas in Ecuador. The epicenter was 80 kilometers south of Guayaquil, home to more than 3 million people. The quake hit 65 kilometers from the earth’s surface, making it a relatively deep quake. Panicked residents ran into the streets. In Guayaquil, cracks in buildings are reported, as well as the collapse of some walls. At least four people are reported dead. The authorities ordered the closure of three road tunnels. A pier sank in the city of Machala. Experts say there is no tsunami threat. President Guillermo Lasso asked residents to remain calm. The earthquake was also felt in northern Peru.
