► GET TOOLS & MATERIALS HERE: ► GET PATTERNS HERE: DIY Leather Tote Bag with FREE PATTERN (Pt. 2) Watch Pt. 1 Here: We finished up our DIY Leather Tote Bag by sewing up the side seams with a saddle stitch. Saddle stitching is a traditional way of sewing leather in leather craft, and it is a simple and cost effective method of creating a strong seam. After sewing up the seams of our DIY Leather tote bag, we used solid brass rivets to secure the corners with an external flap like an antique coal bag. We finished off the handmade leather tote bag with a key clip detail, using a solid brass O ring on the side seam so that keys and keychains can be clipped to the leather tote bag. The free pattern for this tote bag can be found in the video - simply take a screen shot of the free pattern and make your own DIY Leather tote bag! We suggest using 5-8oz leather for the body, 10-12oz leather for the handles and 4-5oz leather for the pocket.
