Cousin of BLM Co-Founder dies after being tasered by LAPD

A 31-year-old man who was a cousin of Black Lives Matter co-founder Patrisse Cullors died after he was tasered several times by Los Angeles police officers on January 3, the LAPD has said. The man, Los Angeles resident Keenan Anderson, was involved in a traffic collision around 3:30 pm on January 3, police said. Footage released by the LAPD shows Anderson running across a street as a police officer approaches the scene. Witnesses are seen telling the officer that Anderson was the driver of the vehicle. A distraught Anderson is seen responding to the officer’s instructions to sit down on the sidewalk. According to the LAPD, “As additional units arrived at scene, Anderson suddenly attempted to flee the location.” Footage shows officers attempting to restrain Anderson, who can be heard saying, “They’re trying to George Floyd me” as he struggles on the ground.
