Various shots of ice floes in Antarctica taken by explorers Sir Douglas Mawson and Captain Frank Hurley on board the ’Discovery’. The shadow of one of the masts of the ship is seen on the ice in some shots. A map shows the location of the Australian controlled area of Antarctica in relation to Australia and New Zealand. Penguins are seen running about on the snow. More shots of huge icebergs and floes. M/S of a Union Jack flag flying from a pole (on the ship?); commentator talks of “the flag on which the sun never sets, the flag which, in every corner of the globe, immortalises British courage and British enterprise.“ Note: Frank Hurley took some marvellous footage whilst on an earlier expedition with Ernest Shackleton.
