Full title reads: “In the Heart of Asia“. Anthropological look at the vast region of Turkestan (Soviet Union, USSR). Various L/Ss of vast pine forests and wide rapid flowing rivers. M/S of two men, each carrying babies, riding horses. They are indigenous people - Tubin nomads. Various shots of men and boys riding buffalo and horse while driving cattle and sheep over plains. Various shots of group of men in front of hut - they are beating a pile of sheep’s wool with sticks. Various shots of women plucking beaten wool to “gossamer fineness“. The sheet of wool is then rolled around a pole. The roll is attached by rope to an ox for transportation to market. Various shots of young boy pummelling grain with large pestle and mortar.
