SUNDAY DISCUSSIONS AT THE MUSEE DES MUSES FOR AUGUST 15, ASSUMPTION FESTIVAL DAY

On this Sunday weekly talk we discussed art, sitting in Euterpe at the Musee, and Daffern gave an explanation of why he regards peacemaking as a art form and that peace is the preferable state to unpeace, disease, violence and war, just as beauty is preferable to ugliness. So peace in an aesthetic challenge to humanity. Then we hear from our visitor to the Musee, Sara Nadaf, who shares something of her life in Syria, living in Homs when the war started, and the tragedies that effected the near total destruction of this once ancient city of marvels. She shares also the life and work of the Jesuit priest Father Frans Von Der Lucht, who did so much to create peace between all groups and factions and faiths in Syria. but who was there murdered by extremist factions. Why is peace so hard to achieve? Why do humans not realise it is our universal birthright? We discuss many deep questions together.
