The Burial of the Romanovs | 17 July 1998

On 17 July 1998, eighty years to the day after their murder, the remains of Emperor Nicholas II, his wife, three of his children, and the four faithful retainers were finally laid to rest in St Petersburg´s Saint Peter and Paul Cathedral. The remains were interred in the crypt of the cathedral’s St Catherine Chapel, the resting place of Russian emperors since the reign of Peter the Great.
