How I Use and Metahumans to Achieve AAA Character Animation in Unreal Engine 5

This is a breakdown and behind the scenes look at how we created a short scene testing out Metahuman Animator on a non-human creature, that has been converted to the Metahuman rig using Metapipe. We captured both performances at the same time. The motion capture is done using six GoPro 10’s and , and the facial animation is captured using an iPhone 13 and 15 mounted on a Rokoko headrig and DIY helmet cam, then processed in Unreal Engine using Metahuman Animator.
