US insists Israel ’temporarily’ occupies Golan Heights, but Bibi says ’forever’

In the south of Syria, IDF troops have crossed into a UN buffer zone, taking up positions previously controlled by Syrian soldiers. Arab countries, Qatar, Iraq and Saudi Arabia, have condemned the move, calling it a ’grave violation’ of international law and ’a dangerous development’. However, the Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu insists the Golan Heights will forever remain within his country’s control. But that appears to put him at odds with Israel’s main ally, the US.
