This is especially useful in paternity tests or the event that a missing child reunites with their parent after a long time. Mitochondrial DNA is the DNA that exists inside the organelle called the mitochondria. Mitochondria is a bean-shaped organelle found in large numbers in most cells. It functions as the powerhouse of a cell, supplying respiration and energy production for all molecular activities.
