ASX 200 ‘a little bit slow to respond’ as worldwide markets ‘recover’

CommSec’s Tom Piotrowski says the ASX 200 has been “a little bit slow to respond” as worldwide markets recovered. “One of the features relating to our market last week is that we saw any number of markets around us recovering; however, we were a little bit slow to respond to all of that, and over the course of last week, we had the index down by more than two per cent,” Mr Piotrowski told Sky News Australia. “In the case of the US market, whilst on Friday the gains were pretty modest: the S&P 500 finished up by around half of one per cent. “But in weekly terms, it was just in negative territory, with a loss of about half of one per cent. “At its worst levels, that index was down by almost four per cent, so that creates a sense of that disparity between the way the US market … has recovered and the way we’re performing at the moment.” Presented by CommSec.
