Guns N’ Roses - This I love (Robin Finck guitar solo)

This is a new one, recorded in May 2022. I don’t like the song itself that much, but Robin Finck’s solo is one of the best things of the Chinese Democracy album. His unique style and tone are perfect for the track, in my opinion. And it never got a proper live version with Robin, unfortunately. I tried my best to get Robin’s tone using a combination of different settings both on Boss Tone Studio (I use the Katana MK2 50W) and Garage Band multiband EQs. Ultimately, I opted for getting a “good enough“ tone without messing around with the EQ and additional compressors on Garage Band. I’m sure I could do it better, and with a better playing (there are some slidings and swells that I didn’t notice until after recording), but that should do it. I did add a small overdub for the power chords section because I had some problem when switching to the patch I made. So I used only the Katana with the following (if you want the patch itself, I can upload it): - Amp Type: Clean (Variation mode), with Gain on 5 - Cab Resonance: Vintage at 84 - Bass: 44 / Middle: 34 / Treble: 56 - Booster: Rat (it’s kinda like a fuzz/distortion) with 15 tone and 7 bottom - Compression: D-Comp with Sustain 77, Attack 77, Tone 12 - Delay: Analog with Time 489 ms, feedback 37, High Cut kHz - Reverb: Room with time , pre-delay 10ms, low cut 400 Hz, High Cut kHz, density 5, effect level 53. - EQ: GE-10 with just a bit of gain for the 2, 4, 8 and 16 kHz.
