Residents remember WW2 heroes after authorities remove T-34 tank monument in Narva, Estonia

This was the spot where Soviet forces broke through and moved into Estonian territory in 1944 during World War 2. A Soviet T-34 tank was pulled from the river and set up in 1970 as a memorial to victims of the war. Estonia’s government said on August 16, 2022 that it decided to remove the Soviet monument in the Russian-speaking part of the country because it represents a risk for public order.
