July 7th: The magma moves closer to the surface and everything is headed for an eruption
New data shows that magma is less than one kilometer deep and is moving closer to the surface. The flow of magma is considerable. These are strong signs that an eruption may be imminent, according to a natural disaster expert at the Icelandic Meteorological Office. Earthquake activity in Reykjanes has only decreased in the morning, the earthquakes are both fewer and smaller. About 7,000 earthquakes have been recorded since the earthquake series began on the Reykjanes Peninsula on Tuesday, the largest measuring 4.8. The civil defense uncertainty level is in effect and the flight color code over Fagradalsfjall is orange. The series of earthquakes started at Eldey outside Reykjanestá on Thursday. 500 earthquakes have been recorded in that series. Flight color code for Eldey is yellow.
