Arrival Of Earl Beatty At Portsmouth (1914-1918)

Arrival of Earl Beatty at Portsmouth, Hampshire. Admiral David Beatty now an Earl; arrives at celebration in his honour (?). Navy HQ. Car driving through Portsmouth. Large group of children on wide steps of official building; pillars in BG. They are all dressed in naval-type clothes; girls in broad-brimmed hats and dark dresses; girls on front half; and behind them the boys in actual sailor suits. Pan on kids. Then shot of sailors standing on left side of steps; pan rt; empty part of steps except for a few officers etc. standing talking; and children on rt. Sailors lifting a heavy container off the back of a truck - it looks like a beer keg. They really struggle to move this thing. 2 other sailors carry a case of bottles between them down sidewalk. More liquor. 2 more guys dragging something in sack across ground & into door in side of building. Looks like a big party is going to happen and much alcohol is to be consumed.
