George V And Queen Mary (1910-1919)

King George V & Queen Mary on visit to Republic of Ireland (Eire, Southern Ireland); 1910s. Opens w/ very good shots of Irish working-class people on street: boys standing at storefront - O’Flynn - covered w/ corrugated metal. Another boarded up shop; men & children standing around; some staring at camera. Pan on down street of shops w/ boards nailed across windows; etc.; many people on street. 2 girls aged about 12; & 2 younger siblings. Quite possibly this is after a riot during the struggle for Irish home rule. King inspecting group of Irish veterans, accompanied by Prince Albert (Duke of York), and possibly Prince George (Duke of Kent) plus other military officials. King & Queen stand at the bottom of steps to a large building and meet a line of elderly veterans; some wearing their uniforms. Old man w/ long white beard & lots of medals on his coat. Another ancient man wearing whole dress uniform w/ plumed hat shakes King’s hand vigorously for a long time. Then King and Queen meet younger soldier
