The “KALMAR NYCKEL“ leaves West Island

With the recent hoopla of the ship Charles W. Morgan, the “Kalmar Nyckel“ came and went in contrast with no fanfare in the quiet east side of West Island’s North Point. The ship spent the night at anchor before continuing its voyage to Provincetown, MA. The 290 ton replica sailing ship weighed anchor at 1040 AM on July 9, 2014 and headed into Buzzards Bay and the Cape Cod Canal. There were 3 curious boats who sailed by and took some photos then the ship under power cruised into Buzzards Bay solo.
