Russia: Putin appoints Ramzan Kadyrov as acting head of Chechnya

Russian President Vladimir Putin met with Ramzan Kadyrov in Moscow on Friday to appoint him the Acting Head of the Chechen Republic. Kadyrov’s term in office expires on April 5 and to once again become the permanent Chechen leader he will have to take part in elections that are scheduled for September.
