Northern Romania hit by worst floods in 20 years Dozens of people were forced to evacuate during severe floods in northern Romania after heavy rains The flood is named by the authorities as the worst in 20 years The administration of the county of Satu Mare reported devastating floods in the communes of Rătesti and Supur. The tributaries of the Krasna River overflowed the banks after 70 mm of precipitation. In some places the level of flood waters reached people up to their waist. As of 15 May, approximately 150 people have fled their flooded homes. Flooding in the Supur region affected 49 households, 7 people were evacuated. Rainfall in a short period has become unprecedented in the region. Hundreds of heads of livestock were lost, more than 1,000 households were affected, and some were cut off from access to assistance. Fortunately, the dead have not yet been reported.
