8 Series - A look back at all V12 models:
BMW 850i: The rather pedestrian but smooth 5.0 liter engine making just 296 HP and 334 Lb Ft Torque
BMW 850Ci: Right as the CSi entered production, the 850i was renamed 850Ci, though the 850i and new 850Ci were produced in tandem for two years. Tacking that “C“ onto the rear decklid also swapped in the new M73B54 V-12, now with 332 hp and 361 lb-ft of torque.
BMW 850CSi: More Power & Speed. The high-performance 850CSi arrived in 1992 with the mighty S70B56 V-12 that spun out a wildly impressive (for the era) 375 hp and 406 lb-ft of torque. A new, stiffer suspension and sharper steering was fitted, along with a standard six-speed manual transmission. The 0-60 mph run dropped to the low-to-mid five-second range, and top speed jumped to 180 mph—but only if you removed the limiter.
M8: BMW denied the existence of such a prototype, only to acknowledge and reveal the mothballed M8 in 2010. Something fierce. From a DOHC V-12, a Ferrari-battling 550 hp was the intended end result.
