“wh“ in whale- makes the “w“ sound, and the “h“ is silent.
“wh“ in who- makes the “h“ sound.
“mb“ in lamb- makes the “m“ sound, and the “b“ is silent.
“tch“ in patch- the “t“ is silent, and this special sound usually follows a short vowel.
“ew“ in flew- makes the “oo“ sound in tooth sound.
“ew“ in few- makes the long “u“ sound.
A Suffix is a letter or group of letters the comes at the END of a root word to make a new word.
