Guru Rinpoche — Mantra by Chogyal Rinpoche

Guru Rinpoche (skt. Padmasambhava) embodies the essence of all Buddhas through time and space. Padmasambhava was born in the 8th century as an emanation of Buddha Amitabha in Uddiyana in northwest Kashmir, as predicted by the historical Buddha Shakyamuni. According to legend, he was born as an 8-year-old boy in a lotus, evoked by a rainbow light that radiated from the mouth of Buddha Amitabha. King Indrabhuti accepted him as his foster son and named him Padmasambhava, the Lotus-Born. In the year 750, Padmasambhava followed an invitation from the Tibetan king Trisong Detsen and helped him to establish the first monastery in Tibet, Samye. Padmasambhava used special abilities (Skt. siddhis) to overcome all difficulties with the local powers. Even the demons of the region promised him that from now on they would use their powers only to protect the lineage.
