The Pumpkins - I Want Out (1970) #heavymetal #helloween

While writing for Helloween’s 1988 masterpiece Keeper of the Seven Keys: Part II, Kia Hansen was looking for a song that appeal to the MTV generation and catapult them into the homes of millions. That’s when Kai discovered the 1970 hit “I Want Out’ by American pop-rockers The Pumpkins. Although the song was far from the sound that Helloween was known for, he knew with a bit of tweaking (completely rewriting the song) it could become the sound they needed to finally get radio airplay and out to the masses.
