Major hail in Catalonia, Spain; La Bisbal, pedregada

Within ten to fifteen minutes, Bisbal d’Empordà was painted white by hail that fell in the municipality. It arrived from Pla de l’Estany, where it had already caused damage, such as breaking the windows of some cars. During its passage through Girones, the storm also left rocks of considerable size, and when it reached the Baix Empordà it took on greater importance. Some residents say that the diameter of the stones has reached 11 cm, which, according to some meteorologists, could be a record for Catalonia. Due to the storms, the fire department received 23 warnings in Baix Emporda, 21 in Bisbal d’Emporda and 2 in Forallac.
