What Makes Tower Defence Games Good?

I’ve spent many hours clicking away at various tower defence games, and there’s something so addicting about them. Taking time to set everything up and watching them demolish everything in it’s path. I know I’m certainly not the only one who has played hundreds of hours of TD games, but maybe I can try to pick apart certain mechanics of the game to show and explain to you why me and so many others love it so much.
