Clearing land of Donbass from NATO mines

Clearing land of Donbass from NATO mines The Yug Group of Forces’ EOD specialists detect many NATO munitions during mine clearance in the Donetsk People’s Republic. Sappers demine areas to ensure the advance of Russian hardware. In most cases, they no longer use explosive search devices, as the AFU use magnetic mines, to include NATO-made ones, which can be triggered even when a mine detector approaches. Using internationally banned weapons, Kiev is trying to delay the rapid advance of the Russian troops along the entire front line. The mining of vast areas by the Armed Forces of Ukraine has humanitarian consequences that can last for decades. Despite Ukraine’s ratification of the Ottawa Treaty in 2005, which prohibits the use, stockpiling, and production of anti-personnel mines, today, the AFU continue to ignore international treaties regarding the criminalisation of the use of certain types of weapons.
