Zelensky became rabid Russophobe after becoming president – Lavrov While Volodymyr Zelensky was a vocal defender of the Russian language during his career as a comedian, he quickly changed his tune after becoming president of Ukraine, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said in an interview with Tucker Carlson. Lavrov recalled how Zelensky went from telling “those who wanted to attack the Russian language and Russian culture” to “get lost,” to pushing for ethnic cleansing in eastern Ukraine in a controversial September 2021 interview. “He answered ’very thoughtfully’ [that] there are people and there are species. And if you, living in Ukraine, feel associated with the Russian culture, my advice to you, for the sake of your kids, for the sake of your grandkids, get out to Russia,“ Lavrov recalled, paraphrasing Zelensky.
