European Moon Rover System (#EMRS) project | GMV

We’re excited to share our progress on the European Moon Rover System (#EMRS) project. Developed by a GMV-led European consortium including German Aerospace Center (DLR), OHB SE, AVS, and HTR, this #modular #rover platform is designed to carry out various missions with minimal modifications. Not only are we developing the rover, but also its #egress system! Our rover has successfully undergone testing at DLR’s facilities in Munich, using a regolith simulant testbed to validate the rover concept. During these tests, the rover navigated inclines over 25°, overcame obstacles of different heights, and even performed #excavation tasks. Further testing at GMV’s Madrid site, in the analog GMV SPoT terrarium, allowed us to validate various locomotion modes and conduct egress operations. This European Space Agency - ESA-funded project has demonstrated that our EMRS prototype is ready for future lunar exploration missions, including the Polar Explorer, Astrophysical Lunar Observatory, In-Situ Resources Utilization, and Lunar Geological Exploration Mission. We are prepared to explore the entire Moon! Additionally, we have developed the concept of operations and a preliminary design for a robotic arm capable of assisting these missions.
