’Iceland Volcanic Eruption Could Be ‘Imminent’ Experts Warn’. Newly released footage shows the scale of destruction of roads and buildings in Iceland, caused by a volcano rumbling under the Reykjanes peninsula. Evacuated residents of Grindavik - a nearby town remained on edge to see whether it would erupt over the weekend. Authorities ordered the evacuation of the towns 3,400 residents, as magma rumbled under the earth amid thousands of tremors. It comes amid increasing reports by experts that an eruption could be ‘imminent’. The town sits southwest of the country’s capital of Reykjavik and not far from Keflavik Airport, the country’s main international airport. The Met office says there is a ‘significant likelihood’ that an eruption will occur somewhere along the 15km magma tunnel. They added, that although the earthquakes have reduced in number and size in recent days...  this could point to signs that an eruption is close. #Iceland #Vol
